I think you need to re-install.

How-to:
1. go to options on login screen
2. choose "Force Update"
3. ???
4. Profit!

Have you tried sending an email to Mojang? I can't see what the problem is if a forced update didn't fix it.

Have you tried to re-install Java? It's the only thing I can think of after seeing

Minecraft's freaking the hell out for me as well.
I click the launcher and the entire thing freezes up. The Window locks up etc. If I do manage to get on I try to load my server and get another lockup exactly the same.
I think minecraft.net is having a freakout.

Same thing happens here. Everything dealing with Minecraft is breaking.

The site is down, so stuff like login verification is just going to lock up, crash, or fail. Try again in a few hours.

I have noticed the minecraft site (which the launcher pulls from) freaking out today, so the launcher is buggy, but my game runs fine offline.
