Does anyone know if it can be done? I'd like to edit some of the less appealing texture packs and try out a few different mods. Is there a tool that can be used to unpack and repack them?

You really should start a thread with [Question]. Very misleading.
It led you here, didn't it? :P

In all seriousness though, I'm just hoping to find out what can be done. At the very least, the concept may peak the interest of someone more capable than myself, and maybe something will come from it.

To be fair he posed in discussions. Not hacks and mods.

So hes discussing things.

@Drak0rex it should be quite simple. There are shed loads of packs available, with modding tools I bet its easy.

but i kinda doubt it would be a saved as png files.
I thought minecraft textures were just in simple PNG format? At least, that's what I saw from unpacking Minecraft PS Vita edition, anyway...

might be, but i dont have a wii u :( mayb they are, and if that is it, OP could replace them with some normal MC PC texture/resource pack

Actually I have it Loadiine ready and have already managed to swap around the free texture packs for the paid DLC ones and can use whichever ones I want. They are located in Minecraft Wii U Edition [AUMEDU]\content\WiiU\DLC\(Folder for each texture pack here). In the folders are a TexturePack.pck file and a Data folder. In the Data folder are media.arc and x32Data.pck files. Some also have a x16Data.pck file.

you can change default textures to anything you want. Even insane high res ones.

How High is insane? Are there already packs made up that can be plopped right in the Wii U version?
you gotta replace the textures in
content\Common\res\1_2_2\terrain.png

When i say insane, you can do as high as you want. Just resize terrain.png to like 2048x2048. Then put texture s in the template.

I turned the whole thing white, just to see what happened... Nothing happened...

The real question is it lagging? I noticed your using cemu not a real wii, so it just matters if the wii u could handle it, not the quality ;D I also noticed the buttons aren't compleated, mine and break is broken for the text.

Yeah cemu isn't perfect yet so broken text and stuff, you gotta try on the Wii u yourself my Wii u is latest firmware so I can't

I changed the default Steve character this way with a bit of trial and error to see which image it was actually using. Simply find the png and edit to your liking. Quite simple.

Hi, any chance for some instructions as to how to swap a standard texture for a paid one please?

I might make a tutorial on extracting texturepack data and editing it along with adding packs of your own as you can add as many as you want. personally I prefer pc but wouldn't mind, also ps3 and xbox texturepack shoukd both work as they all use sane file format.

Oh great, will be much appreciated if you could. I was hoping to add some new texture packs for my 5 year old, so I prefer if he used the Wii U rather than my PC =)
