Gaming MineCraft for n00bs

So I've decided to try MineCraft due to the fact I have too much spare time and it's pretty much the only thing that will run on my system.
My question is where do I go to start? For like basic stuff (controls, tip ect.)

Fun and addicting even though it's a little buggy sometimes.

Well considering it just went into beta, you have to expect bugs.
