No, you cannot. R4DS only supports standard MicroSD, which are cards up to 2GB. Anything higher (4-32GB) is a different standard, MicroSDHC (High Capacity).

If you want to use an 8GB microsdhc, you need a flash cart that accepts SDHC, such as the CycloDS Evolution, DSTT, ect.

There's a non-SDHC 4GB card, but it' pretty much low in quality

Sometimes you want to keep good ol' games while playing the fresh new games. More memory won't hurt. The fact that 8GB microSD was founded makes it clear that we do need it
