I updated to 4.2 and was proceeding to softmod. I've always used a 2 gb Sandisk micro SD with an SD adapter and have softmodded my wii. I update to 4.2 and proceed to clean out the Nintend0 junk. Jam the card in the Wii and now I get the error, "The device inserted into the SD card slot cannot be used."

The SD adapter write protection is unlocked. I've reformatted several times to FAT 32. I have a 1 gb SD card that reads fine but I don't have a way to stick it in my computer. Usually use microSD-->USB adapter.

I should format the 2 gb to FAT16?

The 1 gb is a plain SD card that works on the wii but I don't have a way to read SD cards on my computer. I have the little usb...thumb drive looking thing that accepts micro SD cards.

Not sure what is wrong. I formatted FAT 16 and still have the same problem. I found another 2 gb MicroSD and tried taht and now it seems to work fine. By the way it is formmated FAT 32.

Seems to be no fix for this one. I appreciate the quick response and help!

I thought PS4/5 and Xbox One emulation would be kind of easy since they basically just a PC
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They haslve dedicated on board chips that aren't tweaked like x64/x32 afaik

but its a custom os for both of them

    designed for only specific hardware
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
so you have to learn to emulate that specific hardware which isn't as easy as you'd think

It's a locked down Linux distro basically
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think the only custom hardware is to do with the SSD and a security chip
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    Probably combined in one chip
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They place married security chips onto boards iirc

Didn't see much need for a console, all the advantages have kind of disappeared
  • ColdBlitz @ ColdBlitz:
the ps3 used to support installing linux because the cpu was so powerful
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Then the games are $70 and they want to reboot and refresh the same game every year
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
The ps3 was always Linux they just found a way to make it open source

I'm avoiding buying from the big 3 at all atm

At one point PC game pads where poorly supported, loading a game had setup, it was complicated. Now it's almost as easy as a console.

considering the steamdeck can emulate the switch (yikes) theres almost 0 reason to buy the switch apart from playing online and using cartridges
