Gaming MHGU Weapons/Armor Question

Hi guys. I have a MHGU save on my Switch that is really early in game. It has about 10 pages of Materials (I think), and other items. If I remember right, the save was from my 3DS game. Anyway, when I went to the Smithy, there is not much listed for Weapons and Armor to craft. Um, how do I unlock more? Thoughts and help appreciated

I believe it's mostly unlocked through quest completion and material gathering.
