I remember reading that they were possible and functional months and months ago but the info dried up and it’s hard to find ANYONE who knows ANYTHING about mGBA for 3ds.

The title of your thread said 'mGBA forwarders' as in (.CIA) forwarders. If you at least chosen a better title then it would've been as described.

As for launching games from mGBA, place the GBA ROMs into your "Games/GBA" directory, then launch them directly from the emulator. Doesn't matter which folder as long as you can remember it.
I think he means having the gba game on homescreen but instead of using the native emulator it launches the game using mgba. So imagine Warioland 4, you launch it and it goes ingame, then you can use the mgba settings directly ingame, so what he wants would be to not have to open the mgba app and instead open the game directly but still using mgba instead of the virtual console

Edit: Seems like NSUI might be able to do it. Haven't used it in some years so thanks SylverReZ

Yeah i remember seeing that but thought there was an official note of something else on the way but I can’t remember if that was in discord, reply to suggestions on github, or somewhere else.

nah. Just ask questions and say “oh” when you’re corrected. It’s easier. I promise.
