To say Metroid Prime is a FPS is just wrong...

Why? The game is in first person (Except for when in ball form), and you shoot people.

By definition, that is a first person shooter.

Is thief a first person shooter?

Personally I think it is a crime, that the DS haven`t got a 2D Metroid game yet...

It's a first person adventure.... Not FPS aparently, well says Nintendo...

Yeah, I think so, too. I think it is a very loose definition of FirstPersonShooters by Law and there were games, even before Metroid Prime, which where in a FirstPersonPerspective and in which you shoot people... Just like SpaceJump said: SuperMetroid is not in the same category as MegamanX or SuperContra just like MetroidPrime is not in the same category as Halo or Doom!!!

from what i've heard this game is before the super metroid so mother brain could very well be in it

No man this game is confirmed to be after Super Metroid cause at 1:28 the trailer clearly shows Mother Brain killing the Metroid hatchling from that game

I'm taking a wait and see on this one. I hate Devil May Cry. This game seriously feels like DMC + Metroid.
