You have to take time for ALL metroid games. Backtracking is HUGE part of it. What are you talking about? Metroid is supposed to be an action adventure.
Or are you one of the guys that actually liked Metroid other M?

The prime trilogy is one of the greatest achievement in gaming history.
The artwork level of detail, and pure metroid loving imagination that went into the game is mind boggling.
On the tecnical side it's also worth a mention. No visible loading times, Massive worlds, the total ambiance, incredible smart level design, compelling gameplay. Very few games have that.
Put it in perspective with the limited harware of the time, and Well you can figure it out yourself.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore metroid fan too and I also loe everything about the 2d metroids but, Prime sets the BAR so incredibly high. There's nothing not to like in Mho.
Just give in to the game, and get immersed in the worlds of tallonV, Eather and the MP3 planets. Finish it and replay the Trilogy. I'm doing it now and it's AWESOME. Even after all those years it feels like coming home.....

Metroid Other M was pretty bad. Only good thing about it was the incredibly terrible story that I could watch with my friends and laugh at.

I never criticized the backtracking, it's what makes Metroidvania games Metroidvania. But it felt so boring in Metroid Prime compared to the 2D games. That's just the general feel for me. It was more of a chore than something exciting.

As for the worlds, honestly, I never found them impressive. They just kinda felt like Generic Ice Planet, Generic Fire Planet, etc. I'm a pretty big sci-fi fan and the worlds seemed like a "been there, done that" affair.

or it still a rumor

That video is from like '07. It's still a rumor.

After the successes of the two GBA Metroid games, Fusion (labled as the fourth game in the main series) and Zero Mission (a "remake" of the first game), I was really disappointed that all we saw was Metroid Prime Hunters and a Pinball adaptation of the Prime series on the DS.

I really would have liked to see a traditional platforming Metroid on the DS. I feel it would have done really well, considering NSMB did marvelously at proving that platformers had great potential on the then new Nintendo handheld.

maybe another Metroid game like Metroid other M while be nice

or something like metroid fusion how it ended with the parasite X because it was found on the 383 planet

Why talk about Metroid? It’s a dead series now. Time to go.
HAHAHA trolling fail.

ORLY? Metroid is degraded by this man. If Metroid would be this, then is even more dead than Sonic to me. I'll just wait Retro Studios to take again Metroid and make Metroid Prime 4 or a 2D Metroid. A 2D Metroid by Retro would be x1000 times better than Other M but meh. Sakamoto won't let they because "SHE'S MY HERO!" blablabla.

Adove: Emmy award winning story. Expect more of this in the next Metroid.

Take a summary:

PD: Metroid64 never existed. It would be more interesting talk about Metroid "Atlantis" or at least if he consider its design, would be much more interesting to talk about the nonexistent ghost Metroid64.

In my eyes, the FPS Metroid games will never touch the awesomeness of the 2D side-scrolling versions.

My being an extreme retro gamer makes me biased though.
This (I have not played prime series on wii lots but I'm a biased retro gamer too).

I feel like the DS could have done more 2d and it would have done that far better than it done 3d. The benefits would not have been limited to the metroid series but I guess nintendo didn't think so, business needs I guess, money talks and 3d makes more money/sells more consoles?

But then I look at ghosttrick for example, its beautiful...

This is what disappoints me most about the DS generally. A lack of classic 2d style games and emphasis on "weak(er) 3d" games. I just wish nintendo had more time/enough money to concentrate on new 2d games for the DS(i) for the next few years, This system could still have had plenty to offer. Wheres the update for the DSi to give us the virtual console option (3DS owners get it. What a load of shit DSiware was. Nice one nintendo)... I'm just dreaming out loud now but hope you understand where I am coming from.

2d Metroid would have been great, its sad but seems 2d classics will never be and 3d is the future (I need my 2d fix still, I've over the years developed a dependency.. thanks to growing up on BBC, Spectrum/Amstrad, Amiga, Megadrive, GB, SNES etc... pls sir more).
