I have another question: Will it be open source? There's a lot of stuff in there, and I'm sure a lot of devs would find it very useful to be able to see the source.

As far as I know, no. It won't be open source.

SoulAnger does have some future plans though... :D

Future plans regarding the source or...?

I'm guessing you cant tell us?

This a suggestion to boot roms in m3:
You know theres a boot.ini in the system files which allows you to autoboot files by settiting it up like this:
=nds/game.nds
So if soul can make a simple loader that whenever a game is selected it changes the boot.ini to that games name and soft resets back to firmware hus causing the game to boot via menudo

There is a problem with that theory. IF the autoboot line is set with a valid filename, it will start every time the ds is booted up, so you will never be able to return to menudo.

Well if it could be implemented then why nott make a menudo plugin which after the file boots it delets the autoboot.ini and when you launch a new file it creats a new one it would take a few extra seconds but atleast we get a great firmware although sakura is still my favoite till i see thisin action

that couldnt work because once it boots the m3 firmware, menudo is no longer running, and therefore cannot delete the ini file (afaik).

Keep in mind that ROM loading may not even be out to the public. I know we as testers get it, but I don't know what the public's gonna be getting regarding it.

He'll risk a serious backlash if it isn't released to the public. MenuDO has been hyped as a firmware replacement not a Moonshell alternative (what it will be without ROM loading)

SoulAnger wanted to sell MENUdo to a flashcart company so that only one type of flashcart had rom support. I don't know what he's thinking at the moment though.

But it's guaranteed that at least one type of flashcart will have rom support. With all the features made specifically for roms, it's impossible NOT to add rom loading.

I know I probably shouldn't be saying this as he's put a lot of work into this project and its probably worth some money but I really hope he doesn't do that.
He's been hyping it up for nigh-on 2 years now (correct me if wrong) and at the end of it all to turn around and say "Y'know that great firmware replacement I was telling you all about? Yeah well its only useful on this flashcart because they're paying me" seems terrible.

Hm...
I just had an idea.
For everyone with MenuDO sigs, simply comb their recent posts and find out their flashcart(s).
Then, the answer would be revealed to which cart is goes to, hm?

No, I don't.
After combing through some people with the select signatures, I have found that there's a high chance it could be the M3 team carts.

Skyline has posted a couple times in the M3 area.

I also suspect the DSTT. I haven't seen any reports of the Acekard.

Nice try. But we've got a special version of MENUdo that works on any flashcart.

SoulAnger has said from the very beginning that he intends to only add rom support to one flashcart. What's wrong with spending a few $ on a new one anyway? MENUdo is well worth it.

I personally am hoping SoulAnger gets in touch with Supercard about the DS Two. :D

As do I as that's the next cart I will get and I also own a Supercard at the moment.
I wasn't aware that that's what he's said from the start but I just feel its cheating everybody out of a great program.

While MENUdo may only have ROM loading for one flashcard in the end (IF Soul sells out), it'll still be able to be run on all flashcards, just no ROM loading. Homebrew works fine too, and all the other features will give you plenty to do.

As for who has what flashcard, like Placeholder said, Soul's set us up with a special version of MENUdo that runs ROMs on most flashcards for the time being. I'll come out with it - I own an M3 Real and an AceKard2.1. Used to have a DSTT, but I sold that to my friend. But either way, ROM loading with MENUdo now may be totally different from ROM loading come release time. We can't say yet which card(s) will support ROM loading on release day.

hmm i just heard about this and im amazed and impressed i dont care how long anyones waiting but the end result will be worth it all

btw where did you guys get those kewl menudo sigs i want to get one too if i could possibly cuz i dont have a sig yet ^^
