PS1/2 Memory Card ?

When I was at a game shop today to buy memory cards the vendor came up with two cards, once's fake and one's original. I decided to buy the fake one because it was relatively cheaper, but when I asked him if I can play Burnout 3 with it, he said no.

Am I being punked or something or does it have to do something with fake or original?

BTW I bought the original one because I wanted to play Burnout 3

actually some games don't like memory card other size that 8 mb.
BUT you can always use them as long as you already have a save on them ??!!!!???
