Yeah, Megaman.exe was in Starforce 1 as an easter egg if you have any of the Battle Network games inserted into the GBA slot. You can do a mission for him or something to get a really fast-shooting machine gun style weapon. I've never done this myself, but it happens nevertheless.

Since he is sort of in a residual data form in SF1, I could imagine Megaman.exe coming back again. And I doubt you can easily tie in the two stories so simply. Starforce is said to happen 200 years after Battle Network. Not 100% sure about that, but likely all characters back then have long since died.

Oh for fuck sake, jesus Capcom.

I'm sure there are many out there who would want this but its not Megaman to me at all. At least I still have Megaman 9.

...I had an seizure when I saw this. (This is Raiyu.) My dream come true..thank you Capcom. You really do (sorta) listen to your fans. Now bring us a Rockman DASH 3.

I did have a crazy idea recently, I beat BN6 again and thought "Hey, if Megaman lives out the rest of his life in the copybot, and Lan helps build the wireless society in the Starforce games, maybe we can have a platforming robot game like Network Transmission?"

Anyway I look forward to the game.
An interesting idea, if the CopyBot could be unlocked somehow, so Battle Chips could be used.

I see, I never knew that :/ . Then again, I never did own any of the BN games so I didn't get to try this until I got the 2nd game. Though I did play and beat the first three in the BN series, which I thought were the only real good ones. And yeah, the SS series does take place 200 years after BN. The only human character you get to see is Lan in the second game (After plugging in a BN cart with the game), but you only get to see his face portrait and a message he left behind, after collecting all of the data entry on what happens after BN 6.

Oh yes, it's shown repeatedly in BN6 that Copybots, though usually programmed to be harmless, are capable of using weapons.
Colonel alone had a sword for an arm and nearly sliced Lan at one point.

The meeting of Geo and Megaman.exe was interesting. In case you wanted to know, here is a rather poor video of the meeting from Starforce 1 with Battle Network in the bottom slot-

The dialog that follows-

Geo: hey! can you hear me?
I got your data back!

?: really!? what a relief!

Geo: so how am i supposed to get this to you?

?:I don't know. Oh, wait a sec.
I'm going to try jumping through to you!
... hah!
Wh-where am I?

Geo: you...
You look like me...
*rumble rumble*

Megaman: Oh no!!
the wave ball is collapsing!
sorry, but i've got to hurry!

Megaman gave: "MystrDat" to... Megaman!

Megaman: Thank you!
Here's something for helping us!
A little something to show our thanks!
Megaman got Mega weapon: "BN Blstr"!!

Geo: Thanks...
By the way, who are you...?

Megaman: Me?
I'm Megaman! I'm Lan Hikari's Navi!

Geo: Wha!? Megaman!?
Megaman... I guess there are other's out there with the same name as me, huh?

(BN Blaster's stats are AT 1 RA 5 CH 1)

I assume this would be impossible to do with an emulator, so you'll have to excuse the poor video quality there. It's certainly interesting what happens. The weapon you get is my favorite. It is ultra fast and just really cool. Megaman.exe seems totally unaware that he is in a completely different time period and is confused as to where he has gone.

If this meeting is any indication and is a canon appearance, it would be interesting since time travel might become a key plot element. Megaman seems to believe Lan is STILL his operator and is alive. So I guess this meeting takes place through some sort of time hole. This intrigues me. Hope they do the story well here in the new game!

i think the time-travel event in SF1 is just a very convenient coincidence.
they can refer to the event in SF1, and it makes time travel in this new game a lot less sudden.

^ Granville: The Weapon is called the EXE Blaster (or BN Blaster). You get the weapon in SF 1 & 2 if you have a BN game in Slot-2. I'm not sure if its present in SF3 as I don't have a Japanese EXE game. Also:

I believe in SF2 there were multiple diaries from Netto Hikari concerning the EM waves. I remember reading about them and if I remember, Netto (Lan) was the person who thought of Link Power that's used in SF2 and 3. So he may have some sort of link to how EM waves began.

Also, I'd also like to say that I don't think that Lan will be in this game...there is a possibility he is but there is also a possibility that it could be his son instead...

my opinion on this is lan would be in the game.
he would use Duo and time travel to, perhaps, travel 200 years into time
and you can control Lan and Geo throughout the game.

but what im confused with is that are they gonna rerelease the 3x3 grid in each side?

About the grid, we don't even know what the gameplay will be like. Could be some weird strategy game like Battle Chip Challenge or 4.5 Real Operation. I wish it would remain similar to what it is already though. And yes I'd love to see the 3x3 grid to return. So much more strategy there. The one strategic addition I loved about Starforce was the shield with the Y button. It made everything feel much less hectic and more fair.

If we do get to see both Lan and Geo in this game, $5 says they'll pull a cliche and try to tell us they're related. Already totally possible anyways. (and no i didn't mean the $5 bet, I have no money)

One Japanese blog thinks the idea that Rockman EXE: Operate Shooting Star could be a remake of Mega Man Battle Network with Mega Man Star Force style controls. Ah, the title’s name would make more sense that way and that would solve story problems too. I still want my 3x3 grid though. I wouldn't mind a remake of the series at all honestly. The first 2 BN games, BN4, and BN6 were my favorite out of them all.

That would be an interesting twist, but they should revamp the story or something. MMBN was a revolutionary game for its time, but was outdone by pretty much every one of the sequels except BN4. I'm not sure about that really. If it HAS to be a remake, they'd better go ALL OUT on it and enhance it in every way possible. Starforce was already not much of an upgrade, and the battles were actually less strategic than BN.

actually,
starforce's battle system was much more easier. because there was a one button press shield, and sheild can block 80% of enemy attacks. makes the battle easy as a pie

the 3x3 grid system on the otherhand, is more manuvoureable but you had to do like something like shoot + left [or something i cant remember :| ] to do a shield.

Yes, SF was easier and less strategic. And there was no button combo for a shield in Battle Network. You had to use a shield chip to protect yourself. Only in BN5 could you have a shield IIRC or maybe some crosses. Protoman I believe had a shield with a button combo. I think the BN games could have used a shield mechanic for the circumstances when you are trapped on one square in the 3x3 grid.

If they do remake BN, I hope they use the 3x3 grid system again. 3D or otherwise. Maybe keep the Y shield, but make the game much harder. BN1 was probably the easiest of the games.

Still kind of hope it's a new game. And it likely is since this is just some random blog that is saying it's a remake. I'd take a remake, but some originality would be nice.
