jEnesisDS plays Streets of Rage 1 and 2 perfectly. SoR3 doesn't boot up though.

A Megadrive DS Emulator does not exist with sound yet, so don't complain. Lordus is working on it though.

Hi

What makes jEnesisDS better than picodrive?

I have used picodrive for a while with no problems as such, game speed seems a bit out, and of course no sound.

Whats the difference with jEnesisDS?

Thanks.

jEnesisDS uses a hardware renderer, which greatly increases speed at the cost of potential graphical errors. There are however many tweaks you can make to fix the graphics. jEnesisDS allows vertical scaling, but horizontal scaling is only possible in PicoDriveDS or the software renderer version of jEnesisDS v0.4a. The software renderer version is slower like PicoDriveDS but lets you customize how much frameskip to use.

The latest v0.5 hardware build also includes two savestates as opposed to PicoDriveDS's one.

The SRAM saves are the same, so you can just copy jEnesisDS to your card and try it out. Not having PicoDriveDS's forced frameskip of 2 is rather nice to have.

Will give it a go, wouldn't think there's much in it. Just no that either one would be 100% better with sound support.

Nice use of common sense.

Games that have Music/Sounds are much more enjoyable, obviously.

But the smooth 60fps Genesis Games running on our Portables all make up for it.

The guy is back with his new DS and continuing the development.

0.6alpha has be released for people who donated to this project and has some sound playback for some games and will be released to public soon.

but the Z80's emulation is in progress so jENESIS still has problems with compatibility.

and yes, Castlevania - Bloodlines and Contra - Hard Corpse will NOT have sound on this version.
