google lens is just barely good enough to get the gist of things in a lot of games surprisingly lol and then eventually you just remember what the menu stuff and items are, I have been watching this project a bit, hoping! heres to hoping they give us some more medarot games in english!

please i need help, every time i extract the update i got a bunch of files but i dont have any folder so i cant overwrite the files with the files you provided, instead of a file i got .bin files when i extract the update. tried downloading decrypted update, tried downloading encrypted update, tried decrypting the encrypted update and nothing works what i'm doing wrong?

I replaced exefs+romfs from the update folders but when I install the game and boot it up, I'm still getting Japanese Texts from Title menu to options

If I'm being honest, you wont pay the price that I would expect to get for it anyways. I am to busy to do it for almost nothing. You can always use a text/hex editor and do it yourself...
Wow that's rude of a reply, I was going to try to crowdfund it what ever that target was. A ballpark number would have been nice to understand translator expectations. I may not be a great reverse engineer, but I do fundraising at my university. So I know how to collect funds, and set up sites to gather and market it.

But okay I'll do it myself then.
 
Is this patch complete? Is the story completely translated until the end?

EDIT: it isn't. If you are a story enjoyer stay clear.
they never said or promised they translate the story. the game is playable and thats already a lot and really nice so dont tell people to stay clear cause of ur own wrong expectations.

ffs that was not rude at all. they use their freetime doing stuff like this and basically just told u that they wont do it right now. i think they can advocate for themselves if they wanna do a crowdfund or something like that. whats rude is people like u and ur fuckkboys liking ur messages even tho ur in the wrong. And we all in this community know for sure that u wont do it urself ur just another big mouth that is not appreciating the freetime i repeat the freetime that people but into those kind of projects. talking big about marketing etc. ffs do ur own stuff instead of bothering people that told you not rude but politely they are not interested.

For anyone who is might be trying to get this to work on an emulator. This works for me,
  1. I'm using Azahar plus, no aes_keys.txt needed to install the .cia
  2. Download the .cia for the medabots game somewhere
  3. Download the data.7z and M9 Story.7z
  4. Open Azahar.exe
  5. Install Medabots9 .cia game/file (File -> Install CIA... -> Find your .cia file)
  6. Right click on the game -> Open -> Mods Location, it should take you to something like this ...\AppData\Roaming\AzaharPlus\load\mods\0004000000174F00
  7. Make a romfs and exefs folder inside the 0004000000174F00 folder
  8. Add the exefs and romfs folders inside the .7z files into the folder structure of the mod 0004000000174F00 folder
It should end up looking something like this for the exefs folder:
1766987258662.png

The banner.bnr is special, it just goes into the exefs folder (no extra folder).

for the romfs folder,
1766987290172.png


This allows the modded files to be used directly from the emulator. Much easier than extracting/rebuilding every time.

Also it looks like you can translate the japanese directly in the .spt files and replace with the english text. I might try to get something working story wise with a crude translation, don't hold your breathe though.
 
Hi guys, I have uploaded the initial DeepL translations for the rest of the story .spt files to

In the python folder is the M9-translations.csv where the japanese, english, and the file that the japanese came from. So something like this (japanese, english, file_location - no spaces after the comma in the actual file though):

…なにがだよ。,...What is it?,romfs\story\spt\f04_010_117_00_t011.spt

Currently these are what's used to populate the rest of the romfs/story/spt files. It is unpolished and needs more refining. You can directly update the .spt file (in notepad++ or your choice of editor, just make sure you don't remove the nulls/other characters) and upload it in the repository. The translation was through DeepL so it is definitely missing the Medabots context.

I included the populate-spt-files.py script for populating the original .spt files (also included) en masse. I'll be updating when I can now, but if you see dumb things like Pretty-pline (you can search in the .csv to see the original japanese and try to dechiper it) that's actually the medabot Pretty Prime. Let me know where you see translation issues (report and issue in github?) like that and I'll be able to update at some point (or you can upload the file).

Would anyone like to help me look through the .csv file (~11k lines) at the translations please? or know of a smarter way to do this? I excluded the files Omnija and Sotaeko already translated. I was able to test on Azahar and saw the translations come through, so it is working enough haha.
