I recently bought an used 50001 Ps2 and discovered that it had been forcibly unlocked with Mechapwn, so I can’t use it to play DVDs or burned Ps1 games. The previous owner didn’t give any backup files and I tried running Mechapwn again to revert it to a factory state to no avail. Can anyone here provide me with a clean 50001 eeprom backup file so that I can restore full disc functionality to my ps2?

Semi-bricks like this can be easily recovered with an unmodified EEPROM backup, so if the person had done it prior, then they could've provided it just in-case. Unfortunately, you cannot use any random EEPROM backup you find on the internet, as the EEPROM is not only console specific, but also factory specific at whichever factory it was made in.
