1. Mazinkaiser was never aired on TV. (It's an OVA)
2. You're most likely thinking of Mazinger Z, or one of it's sequels (Great Mazinger or maybe even UFO Robot Grendizer)
3. I wasn't even aware that they aired Mazinger Z outside of Japan and Hispanic countries.

And yes, OP, it's quite awesome. Make sure to watch the movie; shit gets GRIMDARK.

And if you're really into this, watch Getter Robo: Armageddon (also called Shin Getter Robo: Sekai Saigo no Hi).
