Hacking Maybe a noob question?

So I understand by reading that there is little to no chance of a n64 emulator (boooooo!) on the 3ds. I don't understand why, but hey, I don't program, so I guess it's pointless for me to understand completely. My question is, I notice there are some games that have been made into "Plug ins" for the 3ds. Can this be done with Harvest Moon 64? Or is this also basically impossible.

No. It's never going to happen on the DSTWO. It just doesn't have enough processing power. Even if it could be done, and it's probably not possible, you'd be LUCKY to get 0.01 FPS but more likely slower than that. Point is even if it could be done, and it's unlikely on the DSTWO, the framerate would make it impossible to play.

No. And there probably never will be. The other issue includes the data tranferring. Carts aren't quick enough to handle N64 properly last time I checked. The (probably) only way you'll ever see free good N64 emulation on the 3DS would probably be if the 3DS gets CFW but that will probably take years, since there's so much the scene doesn't know yet.

I still have my N64 (pikachu ltd edition!) and it works great to this day. Why not buy the N64 console on ebay or something? It's probably $20 or less and n64 games are cheaper nowadays, plus you'll have a bigger screen (TV).

Or if you have an Android phone there's an N64 emulator for that (if you reeeeeally want a portable N64).
