Yeah mario has always been all around average. Nothing Special, but he is alright at everything, while others exceed in certain categories, they also have flaws in others, but not mario, he is equal and average: all around

Putting Sonic on a Kart would be like putting Superman on a plane.. kinda stupid.. I really don't want him there..

Hey! Koopa Troopa is back! I always used him on the first Mario Kart.. then I used Yoshi in all the others.. should I go back?

Im pretty psyched for this game, Yet i predict another SSBB fiasco

That makes two of us. And unlike SSBB I'm actually interested in this one. I just don't see the appeal with Brawl after my experience with Melee. But I'll still check it out.

Mario Kart has never failed to cause enjoyment though, except for snaking... I just don't like that aspect of the game. For another discussion.

I used to use yoshi too.. but if your a hardcore racer, every character has a disadvantage over dry bones because he is much faster offroad... and most tracks have alot of routes that are faster if you dont follow the road, so being faster off road is a huge advantage if your interested in winning.

Dont know if its going to be anything like that in MKwii, but when your serious about it theres ussually allways one character to stand out from the rest. In MKDS, all the characters were exactly the same, exept lose more and more speed off road compared to the lightest characters.

Agreed. I cant see the hype over smash bros.

I love mario kart too... except for the one on GBA and the one on NGC wasnt too great either. N64 will allways be the greatest kart game.

yeah probly best not to bring snaking up again

dont ask me who called it snaking... gayest name ever. What was wrong with SSMT's...

Your point?

I agree that there's no actual need for Sonic in the game, but then again, there's no need for most of the characters there, they are all there to attract someone who might want to play that specific character. Possibly. And since Sonic has such a big following, and Nintendo and Sega are best pals lately, I have a nagging sense of dread that Sonic might appear as an unlockable secret character somewhere in the game.

lol I saw a Superman toy with a jetpack once.

Anyway I wouldn't want Sonic in this as it is "Mario" Kart so only characters who have been in Mario games (Mario & Sonic doesn't count). Otherwise it'll just be Super Kart Brothers and we'll have Ganon in a Kart which would be kinda silly.

Well, who said you have to race as sonic?

but i don't see him working out in the game. He couldn't be all around average, because he's sonic! He would have to have high acceleration and high top speed, but then there would be no other character to match his skill..

Perhaps we could run him over?

And you can see how those look really stupid.. and that is one of those Sonic Games that we should never talk about..

so basically they nerfed snaking

Of course, the question of "snaking" came up, whether multiplayer games are going to boil down to what's happened with Mario Kart DS: players simply powerdrifting on every possible straightaway as rapidly as possible. Well, with the new powersliding mechanic it makes it difficult for quick fingers to get more boosts than the racers with slower fingers. So perhaps this is Nintendo's way of combating the awkward "love it/hate it" snaking mechanic.

Hopefully the game is more like the DS and N64 versions rather than the GC version, I hated the GC version.

The controls better not feel crappy!! Do you have the option of playing with a GC controller instead of using the wiimote motion sensing?

I so hope the game doesn't have issues like SSBB, I'm looking forward to this one!

What are the release dates?

yeah, I wasnt too into MKDD too.
IGN reckons you can use the wheel, the classic controller, and even the gamecube controller, so its looking good so far.

The MT's can be pulled off by wheeling with the motorbikes for a certain amount of time, holding up to do a trick of a jump, or holding a drift for a limit of time to get a boost. The longer you hold it, apparently the boost gets stronger.
So its aiming for towards the GBA version of MTing. They call it ZZMT'ing (Zig-Zag mini turbo). theres a vid here http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=JFYvbPXK_kw

I hear its doable by modifiying your D-pad so you can go from left to right without touching middle so you can stay in your drift by zigzagging.

The tracks on mkwii look really wide, so theres plenty of room to hold onto drifts for the boost

I see this playing like Excite Truck, to be honest I'm hoping for a very good racer and that's all. I'm gonna treat this as a entirely new game. 1Up say the best way to play is with nunchuck & wiimote.

Also there's some apparent "leaked" info:
"CHARACTERS:
-Not all of the drivers from previous installments will be returning from DD and MKDS. Don't expect any of the Pac-Man characters from the Arcade games.
-About 75% of the drivers are unlockables. There is a ridiculously large amount of drivers.
-Hammer Bros., Toadsworth, and Dixie Kong are new drivers.
-There will be an original character (possibly more than one) introduced in this game (similar to Toadette's introduction in DD.)
-Expect a major comeback from a past Mario character similar to Birdo in Mario Tennis as a driver (I'll keep this one a surprise.)

TRACKS:
-There will be a full track based on Luigi's Mansion and not as a battle stage.
-Rainbow Road will return in keeping with tradition of the franchise.
-There will be a new stage called Retro Raceway that pays homage to classic Mario games.
-There will be re-vamped versions of SMK and MK64 stages.
-A good number of the tracks will have more than one way to reach the finish line. Expect lots of hidden paths. There are also a lot of traditional racing tracks with no shortcuts whatsoever.
-There will be a hugely re-vamped version of Moo Moo Farm.

ITEMS:
-The Blooper item from MKDS will be brought over into MK Wii.
-There will be some items that can only be used by motorcycles and some that can only be used by traditional karts.
-The Ice Flower from Super Mario Galaxy is an item. It creates an icy trail in your path for a short amount of time that players can slip on.

OTHER:
-The Mission Mode from MKDS will make an appearance. There will also be boss fights. It will be shorter than it was in MKDS.
-Expect lots of unlockables, such as bonus music tracks for stages.
-Super Princess Peach will have some representation in the game; what exactly it is I do not know."
