I really love the game!
Have finished it with Mario and are now playing with Luigi. Playing with Luigi is much harder!

Some of the levels are great and if they make a whole game around one level concept (Mario in bubble levels)
that game will be better than 90% of the other crap that is released.
True. Some of the level designs are really cool. The only gripe I have with the game is that it's so silky smooth that it's almost too much. Everything looks so lush and sweet, it just feels like Disney Land in a computer game. Last week listened to the soundtrack (found it on a torrent site) and thought how well the SMG music would fit into a theme park like Disney Land.

I haven't finish the game yet. Every now and then I play one or two levels and then I have to stop again. Partly because I think the game is too good to just play through it in one go, but also because after a while the game gives me a feeling of having eaten too much chocolate...

It's certainly no SMB3/SMW/Mario 64, but it's better than the mess that was sunshine...

I think for some reason more people agree with you than agree with me, but I didnt like Mario 64 at all. SMB and SMW are full of win for me, but I didnt like almost anything after that until SMG

Plus one.

I liked 64 when I originally played it, but to say it's better than Sunshine or Galaxy... ugh. It doesn't hold up well, the controls and camera specifically.

I don't know why Sunshine gets all the hate it gets. It has the tightest controls in the series (including Galaxy), and some seriously hard levels... my only gripe is that some of the levels lack variety, but that didn't stop me from beating it the whole way through.

I actually think SMG is one of my favorite Mario games, if not my favorite.

It probably would be a different story if I played 64 before playing Sunshine (not underage, I'm 21 and just got a Playstation instead of a N64).

Though I still need to beat all of them, only haven't beat them because memory cards have been erased or just had to restart as I haven't played them in a while.

I really got into Mario Galaxy, and it takes me a lot not to put the game down after 5 minutes and not play it again, like I did with Lego Batman!

I think it still holds it's appeal ages after starting with it, i'm about 110 stars in wih Luigi and still switch it on now and again and have a bash.

I also don't understand the whole Mario Sunshine Bash, it was great, something new and fresh, new local so new stage design. I think that game made something good that the series needed. And this is to shake up the gameplay design. Seriously if it was Super Mario 64 2 It would have sucked. The watergun twist was well used and very fun to play.

I sometime have the feeling that people bash Mario Sunshine and Zelda Wind Waker only because it's a cool thing to do on the internet.

For me, it's definately in my top 3 of best games ever, which is saying a lot really. I think that everyone who even remotely likes platformers should love Super Mario Galaxy. For me, it wasn't too short at all (try and beat every level!), it never became boring (although it was really easy at first, some levels are pretty damn hard!) and it was really a pleasure to play through it. It's not a game you'll regularly play through, but I'll play through it again a year from now or something.

Well the first load of levels aren't exactly that great but it got far far better and for me its a classic game. A year later its still my favourite 3D Mario.

It's a great game. It's a new classic. But it isn't as awesome as the classics. Mario should be 2D, not 3D, I didn't like Mario 64 (sorry), but this one is great. But still games as Super Mario bros. (GB/NES/SNES/GBA/DS), Super Mario World (SNES/GBA) and even Wario Land (GB/GBA/Wii) are better.

What can I say, I've always wondered why Mario is still the 'mascot' for Nintendo. The last good Mario game for consoles was Mario 64 (Sunshine was okay, but pretty boring and not that stand-out IMO), and I didn't even like it that much. All standard platformer fare as far as I was concerned.

However, Mario Galaxy is the first Mario game I've completed. Absolutely beautiful, amazing musical score, addictive and incredibly fun. Loved it to bits

. Miyamoto showed us he's still an absolute genius too.

Who bashed Wind Waker? Might not have been up to par with Ocarina, but it was massively original and innovative, plus absolutely beautiful as well.

It was too linear for me. Its kind of like the old 2D games but in 3D which isn't a bad thing at all, but when you're expecting something different like an open world to explore ie: SM64 you get dissapointed

Can't believe so many people didn't like SM64! I think its one of the best games ever made!

galaxy's by no means a bad game but I think it could have been a lot better

I found it to be like Twilight Princess, play it once... never play it again. Although I must say it is repetitive, but it also is one of the few good games on the Wii. I'd give it another shot

well, it depends on some people, i found it very fun until i beat it, i got luigi, and then just got bored.
