Hacking mario bros 3 and m3 mini

Hiya, I'm trying to play super mario bros 3 (for gba) on my m3 mini. And it just isnt working. I am playing it on a ds lite, and I always get the same message about my save file being corrupt. Is there anyone who can help?

Somehow only the JPN version seems to work fine, M3 wiki has a link to a patch for it. Works fine patched.

I'm playing that game on my M3 CF without any problems. What i did is srampatch with gbata than write with gamemanager. Even the real time saves works. i do have a save corrupt message at boot up but the save works fine anyway.

Still cant get it to work, I patched it with the ips patch u gave me a link to, and still didnt work. In the readme file of the ips patch it said it should work with a us version of the game which is what I am using.

Still not sure what I am doing wrong.
