why would anyone want moonshell to auto boot?
Maybe because it looks nice, has a very responsive GUI, supports various music and image formats, can read text files, edit .ini files, has a voice recorder, a memo pad, slick design, and can watch .dpg videos. It is also versatile in what it can do, having an extlink ability that allows homebrewers to add different functionality based on file extension including .nes, .gen, .ipk, etc. from within moonshell2's GUI.

In short, it is probably one of the most amazing works of homebrew to date.

does it automatically make a .sav file for games like the original ak menu?(i dont pirate games) can you copy, paste, delete the files through moonshell?

It automatically makes a save file if your flashcart does. Moonshell2's rom loader is just redirecting to AKAIO's autoboot ROM. It has similar methods for all things supported by Xenon++'s inilink. You can delete files, but copying, pasting, renaming, cutting are not available in Moonshell2 (mostly because they are rarely used most likely...). For my setup, I use DSOrganize and Moonshell2 together which covers a majority of the things that I might need.

Also, Moonshell2 is actually just supposed to be a media player, so you shouldn't really expect a variety of a flashcart OS's features. It just happens to be very versatile in doing what it was originally intended to do and then some extras.

so I made a little translation of this topic and I wanted to show to MAIO's author: http://gamehall.uol.com.br/ndsbrasil/forum...st&p=824855
Well considering I can't speak portugese - I ran it through Google translate & all I can say is considering it's not a perfect translation to english - I can get the guist of it,
& I really like the spoiler of 'Installation.txt (file) - a readme that nobody reads' - how true is that !!!

Very well done

"NDS file version of starting Moonshell2" and
"Files of installed moonshl2 folder " are different

Have I not done something right or something in the wrong order ??
Fixed. Very sorry
[Edit] Re-fixed. splash.ani seems to want to be downgraded.

No problems - Tried out your latest version & it works just fine.
I've added a link to your 'DS Env maker' post plus steps on how I used it to create MAIO as well to the first post

Only one small teeny 'niggle' - Moonshell defaults to Japanese language. Any plans on adding a 'language select' setup under one of the Moonshell options ??

Now DSEM has a addon named MoonShell2 Language Select.

Is there a way to auto boot the main acekard/AKAIO firmware instead of moonshell2?
??? Not sure I understand you right...
NORMALLY when you get an Acekard you install either Acekard official firmware or AKAIO onto the card anyway - when you switch on your DS it autoboots into that straight away
allowing you to play your games, or start up any Homebrew software

If you install moonshell afterwards, you then start THAT up through AKAIO to get your media function (play MP3,videos, vew pictures etc)

So from what I read custom splash.ani do not work?
Correct - IIRC, the reason is that to get 'commercial ROM running' in Moonshell 2.1 [Final version] - a modified file from an earlier version had to be used, but unfortunately a bug was introduced in that particular version that also prevented any custom 'splash.ani' files from working

This is also why you may see the wrong version number showing when booting up during the normal 'splash' animation
(I'm not sure as it has been a while since I've looked - I've got a different Flashcard now - but I think that it may say 'Moonshell 2.09' even though the file is actually from Moonshell 2.1beta9)

Unfortunately, until someone can figure out HOW moonlight (the developer of Moonshell) had actually encrypted/compiled moonshell 2.1 - the custom splash.ani will never appear on any 'Commercial ROM Running enabled Moonshell'

Ermmm - why tell us ??? ...

Firstly, AKAIO is not meant for clone cards. In fact the newer versions of AKAIO has been designed to fail on clone cards
Secondly, since 'MAIO' is based on official AKAIO with use on official Acekards - I doubt it'll will ever work on Clones

It could work, though you would have to know what you were doing and it wouldn't be all that newb friendly...not that I've ever tried it, I've never had a clone flashcart.

Do our commercial ROMS have to be in the root of the SD card like it had to be with CannonFodder's Moonshell/AKAIO loader?

Also, what's a "splash.ani"? I assume it's some sort of animation that plays during the main menu or something.

EDIT*

Seems like you can, indeed, change the location of your ROMS on your SD cart without having to worry about being able to load it or not.

Well, excuse me, but the reload.dat needs fatpatch (fixes last cluster bug)

Also would you mind to update utilities to mshl2tools_r31 0.50a?
