So a bunch of people at my school got into it, so I decided to as well. I bought a deck starter kit (4 booster packs, +225 other cards) for $20. I made a deck with a mixture of mountain and plains cards. Game is pretty fun. In one of the boosters I got a "Gideon Jura" card. Which is apparently rare. None of my friends know how to use a planes walker though, so I can't use him

Also, got an iPad a few weeks back. I really like it. Use it for school, typing, keeping my textbooks together. I might do a review.

Damn, lucky you (about the planes walker).
I've got the Power Grab(?) Core Deck, and I didn't get any particularly nice cards in the booster pack ;O;

Sadly I've not really got anyone to play with :c

Damn, that sucks. If you have a card shop or hobby shop or something, they may have tournaments or something.

italy's not really into this you know, most people only play pokemon or yugioh, and it's rare to find a magic the gathering tournament

shlong wanna play?

Yah, there's one in the center (where I got the cards from) but I don't have enough time to go there recently ;o; But I think there's a tourney next month or something

Yah, I went into the shop I mentioned above today, and the only games being played were Yu-Gi-Oh!, and not one person had a MtG deck with them. I didn't either, but that's besides the point.

Sure, that'd be pretty awesome ^^
But...how? o: I thought you were in Milano?
I also need to get the rules properly figured out

I've kinda got them, but there's still quite a lot I don't get ;o;

O that's pretty kewl then ^^
I'm in Firenze, so it's a bit of a distance ^^;
i may go there sometime, but i'm not really sure when
anyway distances suck, and now the metro/train costs more than usual
and sorry for derailing the thread a bit

when you put a planeswalker into play he essentially becomes another player that is on your side, he cannot attack or block. you can use one of his abilities per turn either adding or subtracting to his set loyalty number in the bottom right of the card... if your opponent has one in play you can choose to attack the planeswalker directly as if you were choosing to attack the opponent. the planeswalkers life total is the amount of loyalty counters on him...
been playing this game since the mid 90's

Oh, that makes more sense. Gideon can attack and defend though, I think. One of his abilities is to get 6/6.

Urza, I'll likely get that at some point.

Guild, it's pretty fun. I plan to expand my collection.

Gideon can't defend, he loses his creature status at the end of turn, and you can only activity his abilities on your turn. He's also unique in being able to become a creature temporarily.

And yeah, D12 is really fun. It lets you polish up on your Magic skills (although some things like end steps, which I find crucial, are missing). Still, it's a fun Magic game that lets both newbies and pros play on a relatively equal level.

Also, if you really begin to like Magic, I suggest reading Daily MTG. It's an official daily (minus weekends) "blog" about Magic. It has some card reveals for the next set (all of Innistrad, the next set, has been outed, and you can view the cards there), it goes over some recent professional tournaments, talks about strategy, decks, etc. Really fun to read if you like Magic.

Guild, do you have D12? If you do, when I get I'll play ya! And lose, but that's besides the point.

Also, thanks for the blog link. I'll take a look at it.

I have it on Xbox but I don't have Live. It doesn't run well enough on my computer to buy it.

MtG is fucking awesome.

I spend way too much time playing it, too much money collecting it, and so much time enjoying it. Best TCG ever made.
XD
I'm the same way.
I started back in December, when a few friends and I got into it, and now I'm super into it.
I'm one of the best players in my group, which is pretty awesome.
A bunch of people in my senior class have started playing it recently though, it's crazy. I bring my deck to school since so many people play these days.
Gideon is the fucking boss. He's not a little bitch like other Planeswalkers, he MAKES enemies attack him, then he says "FUCK YOU I'M AWESOME!" and attacks you himself. He's the Captain Falcon of Magic.
I'm SO pumped for Innistrad and am going to an Innistrad draft tomorrow with a close friend.

How does that ability work exactly? Does he get +2 before all the monsters attack, or what? It confuses me lol.
