I'm pretty sure that Gateway = TX rumor was debunked as soon as it arose.
I'm pretty sure that whover debunked it was wrong then. Just look at the package; it's literally the same.

I know its a bit annoying these questions but, I want to know more about these Flashcards. For me there are interesting somehow.
So, any ideas to how are Flashcards manufactured?

It's not, I'm also very interested what happened behind the scenes. But I don't know anything about production, only about software. I thinkg GBalpha and the original R4 Team were chinese or japanese people in the first place.

I like M3DS more than R4. It was lagging.

I just read the compatibilty of the Wood firmware. Almost 99% of games work with it. It shouldn't have any problems with M3DS

They come from china. The EZ-Flash team posted some pictures about the OMEGA's production process but everything else is pretty secretive. Probably in some small factories somewhere in china in a secret "second" nightshift or something like that.

The WoodR4 kernel for the M3 is not the latest official wood kernel. It's an older version that was open source (and probably doesn't have the 99% compatibility).

That just means the packaging was made by the same factory.
I would be very interested in your source debuking it then. They even have the new stargate nx service exclusive for SXOS. They don't even hide that they are the same.
Someone told me in 2016 that GW worked on an online verification system. Guess what sxos has.

I think WoodR4 stopped supporting the M3 products later on. But I heard the original R4 Team (which maybe is the same one like the M3 DS Simply Team) were Japanese. Production is always in china though.

The M3 support of wood always has been unofficial.
The supercard team said that they come from accross the world. But who knows if that's true.

Yes, but the inofficial support also stopped when they released the GMP-Z003, which btw was the most stupid decision ever made.

As this is almost a "flashcard back in the days" thread now, do you also know more behind the scenes information for what happened with the R4 DS Team? And why the M3 Simply was 1:1 the same product?

What the hell is "Stargate NX"?

TX are a long time manufacturer in the console modding scene, doesn't make sense for them to just give the name to some other company to use. I have no idea why people keep thinking they are the same people when there is literally no evidence that that's the case. Correlation != causation.

I don't think there's any significant difference from any generic electronic product: they learn to imitate (more or less) the shape of an original game, figure out the hardware encryption and protocols, get some general purpose chips - make a PCB - develop firmware and kernel, test (or "test"), repeat until satisfactory, make 10000 at a time instead of 1

With the obvious advantage that the basic idea is already out (documented, for example on gbatek, or cloned from others) and popularity of the DS was at an all time high in the original R4 days and for a few years after!

As for clones with maybe at most a sticker change and renamed kernel, yes, I would suspect of them being ghost shift runs or maybe "common mold" (deliberately made by the same company with the requested name printed on it)

switch freeshop... except it doesn't download directly from Nintendo, and oh it's not free

I agree... with a different interpretation of the last sentence: I don't think today's TX is significantly related to the one which earned their reputation with solid and/or advanced Xbox/360 products; after all they quit all 360 work before the very last motherboard designs, heading towards the X1 - but nothing was heard of them afterwards!

@DinohScene maybe knows better

what happened with the R4 DS Team?
What I've heard is that they were busted or almost (for what exactly, I don't know and seems a little fishy, since the R4 itself doesn't contain any obviously illegal content), so they had to stop with the 1.18 kernel

(theories on the 100% clones that continued to be available until 1-2 years ago vary widely, but could even be old stock)

And why the M3 Simply was 1:1 the same product?
Common mold again, I guess: M3 asking R4 to make and support a slot-1 flashcard for them, to remain a competitive brand until they had an actually original slot-1 product to sell; didn't the M3 stop being updated a couple of kernels before the R4 (and the cards having the minimum difference - 1 resistor - to block the other brand's kernels?)

Now, every game that I have, loads but just two not. Mario Kart DS and Brain Training. Is there any solution? After "loading" screen I get a white screen. Is it something with the .sav file of them?

Always tricky with theses firmwares. Maybe it's a problem with the SD card too. Both are very old games, they should run of nearly every firmware. Did they work on YSMenu?

Yes. They worked on YSMenu. Brain Training worked on wood m3 but after I reboot the DSi, there is now the white screen.

This reminds me how buggy these flashcards were [emoji23] Try to create a new save and check if it's working again.
