Hacking M3CF + PassKey 2 causes white screen

I just got my M3CF and updated it before putting games onto it, I put Mario Kart into the Passkey 2 slot and inserted the PassKey 2 into the DS.

I have a Hot Rod Red( or Mario Kart) DS (Firmware 4, yellow screens during test)
Dane-Elec CF Card, an M3 CF with v.31 Fimware and a PassKey 2 which is switched on to PassKey 2 mode

What do you get if the Passkey is set to mode 1?

I get the same thing I have two question though, do I insert the Passkey 2 when the DS is on in the M3 menu or before that ?, and what is the other GBA cart looking piece for ?

To start with I'm tired tonight and I have a bourbon and water in my hand so I hope this makes sense...

Without the passkey 2 insereted with game card plugged in at powerup you can only enter the M3 in GBA mode which seems to be working for you, good. All of it needs to be plugged in at power up to enter NDS mode.

I was leaving work when I left my first reply and didn't remenber the firmware cutoff point off the top of my head for passkey mode 1 or 2. I'm home now and I checked and you have firmware version 4 which requires passkey 2 mode. You need to do some steps which I have not done which is program the M3 and maybe the Passkey 2 for the "leading" game card you are using. I used a Passcard 3 to flash my lites which does not require these steps. Programing the Passkey2 is what that other GBA Cart piece is for... Links below for PassKey2 V4 software and manual...
