Hacking M3 Real Firmware Question

I know most users use the M3 Sakura Loader. Are you required to download the regular M3 DS Real firmware still or do you just use m3 sakura loader by itself?

Are both of em recommended together for the updates?

How does it work? thanks

Both loaders are in one everytime you run the installer(to install movie converter with the system files). You select which one you want, as in loader, and it starts from there. Or you hold A and you can change which loader. So you can run both, just sometimes it takes more time to update them both with both loaders.
