BP3E, and its laggy in quite a few games.

Back of the card is completly barren and flat, no components or gold contacts. No real point in showing it.

I have BP3E and only one game doesn't work(The World Ends With You, freezing at first cutscene after frogs, "open-close" fix in this cutscene works for me). Zelda PH works normal(without "download play" option). Castlevania(dos & por) works without any problems. Same thing in tony hawk's(pg & as). Everything with 3.7e firmware(same on hacked sakura 1.11 sp1).

Just got the M3DS Real Perfect bundle and it's a BP3E. I bought two cheap Kingston MicroSD cards from newegg, a 1GB and a 2GB. The 1GB card (Taiwan manuf.) experienced freezing with Cooking Mama 2, but the 2 gig card (made in JAPAN) hasn't had a single hiccup. This is consistent with what I've read elsewhere, don't know if the same applies to those fancy new high-capacity cards y'all keep talking about, but if I were a betting man... I figure it's like optical media; made in Japan = good, made in Taiwan = losing all your data in as little as six months, a couple of years if you're lucky. Even with TWEWY...no problems with those frogs I keep hearing about, it just plain works.

Mostly using the smaller card for GBA, so the slower transfer speed won't really matter. It did play the Portrait of Ruin vid perfectly, if that counts for anything(?).

I'm happy with it.

Well, I was curious, as from my own experience stuff made in Taiwan is typically vastly inferior to that produced in Japan. So I ran HDTach with both cards and got the following results:

Kingston 1GB MicroSD (Taiwan)
Average Read: 9.6MB/s
Burst Speed: 9.7MB/s
Sequential Read Speed: 9.7MB/s (drops to ~9.3MB/s near the end)

Kingston 2GB MicroSD (Japan)
Average Read: 17.5MB/s
Burst Speed: 18.1MB/s
Sequential Read Speed: 17.5-18MB/s

I knew there would be a difference, but not that much! No write tests with the free version of HDTach, but write speed is only important (as it pertains to these forums and our purposes therein) for transferring roms & stuff onto the card prior to use. The only writing being done during any game I've played is the save file, which is relatively tiny.
On a similar note, I also did some reading about the SDHC cards and their class ratings (transfer speed). Every source I found stated that the class rating referred only to minimum write speed. Which is very nice if you're sick & tired of waiting for your digital camera to write the damn picture to the card already so you can shoot another. But, the truly important factor regarding usage in a DS is the read speed. At least this is what I gather from simple logic. If the data on your MicroSD can't be fed to the DS fast enough ("real-time"), it won't matter what version of M3 or anything else you're using.

no, the deciding factor is the random access time. Data streaming to the slow DS port is fast enough on nearly any card, but finding the data in the first place is where problems can occur.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
