Hacking m3 miniSD

well i got my m3 mini SD perfect and my r4 today in the mail so i started working on geting them to work (loading fw ...ect)
i got my r4 working all nice and dandy so i started working on my m3 miniSD i got the fw update file loaded and working so i tryed to run a gba game (pokemon emerald) it loaded up fine but after that all there was were two black screens... so i thought well the rom might be bad so i loaded new super mario bros and its patched save... it did the same thing. is there anyone who can help me with this?

Are you switching to GBA mode before running the GBA games? I think you press start to switch to GBA mode on the M3, but I'm not totally sure about that; it might be a different button.
