I just picked up a new3ds XL and proceeded to follow a guide on 3ds.guide

I followed all the steps correctly but once luma3ds v8.1.1 booted none of the buttons work?

If I hard reset It takes me back to the config menu, removing the sd card I get a black screen.

I have tried booting holding different buttons but still nothing.

I tried an earlier version of luma3ds v8.1 and it boots but still no response.

Any help would be apreciated, I can't use the system at all..

Cheers.

How about using the latest nightly of luma see if that helps

Not sure what latest nightly means unless you mean latest version which I've tried.

Start the guide from scratch again. You missed something along the way

I would start from scratch but I am stuck in the luma3ds with no way to get out as I mentioned, I cannot reach any other screen If I have to I will do the hard brick fix...

That's ridiculous. How do you think he is getting a Luma config screen if he doesn't have B9S installed?

Put GodMode9.firm on the root of your SD card and rename it to boot.firm. If that works (it boots into GodMode9), make a NAND backup then do a CTR transfer and see if that helps (if it doesn't, then you'll still have a NAND backup from its current state).

Thanks, basically I picked this 3ds up for really cheap because it had coke or something spilt on it.
I pulled it apart and have ordered another lcd bottom screen because the coke has damaged the backlight and the lighting is all spotty.

I opened it again and have figured out that with the triggers unplugged luma3ds works...

anyway I am pretty annoyed nintendo used these strange ribbon cable plugs that arent supposed to bend back like every other one I have come across.
(I have noticed alot of people get the power light and then a pop sound and it turns off, this is fixed by making sure the small ribbon cable coming from the bottom LCD is making proper contact.)

So now i have to hot glue the 4 ribbon cable plugs down so they make contact, cheap pricks.

Cheers.

Edit: after some more tests, I have figured out the R trigger is stuck down.
