Hacking Luma3DS 9.0 ErrDisp

Hi. So I was having the same problem as the OP with my 2ds after spilling some A&W on it. I tried the new boot.firm (The one that was supposed to fix the error) and got to the Luma3ds configuration. I configured it as usual, but afterwards, it said "Error: failed to load (1) patch(es). Press any button to shutdown." How can I fix this?

Do the settings say "Booted from SD via B9S" on the very bottom?

Sounds like you have hardware problem if you spoiled a&w root beer over it.

Would be my guess as well. Liquid damage can make mean things.

yes, it does say "Booted from sd via B9S"
(And yeah liquid and electronics don't mix well.)

Fine. At least the SD isn't ignored.

Are you sure you are using the latest Luma3DS (v10.2.1 at the moment – v9.1 should work as well)?

Getting a "Failed to apply n FIRM patch(es)" for another reason than the usual (official firmware too new for the used Luma3DS version) isn't a good sign.

Oh dear. I have to leave the house for today, but I most likely wouldn't be a great help in this case anyway. Still sound like hardware failure. Have you opened and cleaned console the motherboard with isopropyl / rubbing alcohol to prevent further corrosion? That should be done after spilling water (or worse) on electronics. Let it fully dry before usage.

What you can try – for the case the software got corrupted for whatever reason (in crashes caused by ???) – is repairing the software with CTRTransfer or CTRTransfer Type D9.

Please create a backup of the NAND before writing (attempting software repair) and store this image on your computer. Check your SD with h2testw or F3 before trusting it.

I have not done the alcohol or anything, but after the spillage (which was about a week or 2 ago) I took the battery out and let it dry for a few days. Then I turned it on and got the qtm error.
