I'm unable to see anyone with similar error so I'll try here

Got this when I try to use Data Transfer. Happens on the giver console when transfer is about to start

Both consoles are CFW and N2DS XL

Thanks for your help

Oh okay, so the problem is with the app

Are both consoles of the same region? Were either of them region-changed?

Both european console but target console only has the country selected, not the region

Edit : Tried after selected same region, still doesn't work

The new console (a Minecraft edition) was given to me and was purchased on a European classifieds website, so I don't think it was Japanese or American. Is there any way to find out? I got it as a European model.

and it doesn't have an NNID. I am able to complete the steps of the process. It's the NNID from the old console that I would most like to recover on the new one.

Good question. I think the usual method is checking the unit's serial number.

That doesn't answer the question. Can you access the eShop on your old console?

Did you install Pretendo?

Serial numbers begins with NEE and NEG so I assume it's an european

I can access eshop with both consoles and I have pretendo app, but it's disabled

Do you mean you have Pretendo installed on both units?

Pretendo is still under development and it wouldn't surprise me if no one bothered to extensively test System Transfer on units with Pretendo installed. Perhaps you should double-check the Pretendo message boards, and then uninstall Pretendo if no one there has a better idea.

When you say the error occurs "when transfer is about to start", does the unit report anything happening?

If I'm not mistaken, one of the first things that's supposed to happen is that DSiware titles are copied to the SD card.

Do you have TWiLight Menu or any forwarders installed?

In fact, when the message says “preparing transfer,” the message stays on for a minute while the transfer is being prepared, and the error screen appears after a while, but the transfer itself does not start.

I have NDS forwarder generator in .3dsx. But on the menu the only custom nds software is FSPDS. No twilight menu

Do I also need to check what's in .3dsx?

Well, you can try to uninstall FSPDS and see if that helps.

Otherwise, the only thing I can think of is to check the SD card. Faulty SD cards can cause all sorts of mysterious problems. Standard procedure: copy everything off the SD card using Roadkil's Unstoppable Copier, format the card, and test the card with h2testw. If h2testw says the card is okay, then you can try copying everything back again; sometimes that is enough to fix things. If h2testw says the card has errors, then you should stop using the card.

Do I also need to check what's in .3dsx?
System Transfer will not do anything to .3dsx files.

Okay I'll try and see what happen, ty
Post automatically merged:

Uninstalling FSPDS does nothing new

H2TestW say sd card is ok. After format it, nothing new, even when I try without inserting sd card

It's starting to drive me insane lmao

Unfortunately this is all unexplored territory at this point. (I did see https://yifan.lu/2015/04/22/opening-up-cardboard-crafting-an-american-new-3ds-non-xl/ but that's probably out of date.) Have you tried asking on the Homebrew discord?

What if you try connecting both units to a wireless hotspot on your phone instead of using a router?

You can also try uninstalling other apps one by one and see if that makes a difference. Or just rebuild your title database as in https://wiki.hacks.guide/wiki/3DS:Rebuild_Title_Database . (Needless to say you should backup all your important data before you start messing with this.)

If all else fails you can just contact Nintendo support and ask them to move your NNID. You will have to reinstall all your games and manually copy over your save data with Checkpoint, though.

I tried many times to ask on the discord but no one care about my messages. Guess they don't know neither

I'll try contacting nintendo and hope they can still do this on 2025. Thanks you, for the games they're not a problem
