I always wanted to mess with the Nintendo DS firmware. For that I found Loopy's firmware that I can edit with DSlazy and a hex editor. I might misunderstood but will the firmware only work on a DS Phat?

[EDIT]

(I always find the information I need AFTER posting a thread about it) Loopy's firmware can only be used on DS Phat. Can I make it work on DS Lite?

If you have to ask the question then probably not and I am not aware of any real comparisons between firmwares and console revisions.

The obvious first thing to look at would be handling of the brightness chip (present in the DS lite and later batches of original DS, hence the handful of later model DS that could have DS lite variable brightness if you flashed the firmware).

http://problemkaputt.de/gbatek.htm#dsfirmwareserialflashmemory has a few differences in that and the following sections but nothing much for this sort of thing. Don't know if http://fwnitro.caitsith2.net/ or creebome ever tackled this either.

I would also be concerned about whether or not Loopy's firmware uses any of the space used for DS Wifi connectivity settings. When the first Wifi-enabled DS games came out (Mario Kart DS being one of them), they wrote to a specific part of the firmware that had not previously been used. FlashMe had to be updated to not use that particular bit of space going forward.
