I don't remember the name anymore, it was a Game Boy game that was supposed to be a clone of Zelda Links Awakening. There was a prince and a lot of frogs. I enjoy those classic games that are like Links Awakening and the original Mystic Quest. I have no idea what other Game Boy games are out there that are like these titles. Anyone can give me a recommendation?

Also, you might like Final Fantasy Adventure. It, like Final Fantasy Legend aren't actually FF games, but Square's American/localization team thought it best to play it safe instead of launching new franchises in the west. FFL 1-3 were the first games in the SaGa series, while FFA's first sequel got released in the US as Secret of Mana. Unlike SoM, FFA doesn't have RPG style battles, but rather just enemies on screen, much like in zelda.

Wasn't there a port or Crystalis for the GBC too? if so its definitely worth checking out.
There was. Its a great game.

It's not a clone of Link's Awakening. It's even the complete opposite.
Link's Awakening was based off For The Frog the Bell Tolls' game engine.
Some characters and music were also retained.

I wonder if a Zelda ROM editor tool could be adapted to modify that game... Even with the same format of level data, you'd have to find the different locations of the data segments. They might also have almost the same format so that you'd get weird issues like game crashes or unsupported features in the older game. Or it might just crash the editor even though it was 95% completely working once you found the locations to read.

Goddamn I've played the HELL out of Gargoyles Quest. I remember for the longest time I couldn't get past the second-to-last boss, because they non-intuitively make him immune to your strongest fireballs--without an audio clue. Once I could finally beat him, the game started getting owned so hard by me that I would do speed runs for fun. Timing myself, I'm at most five minutes longer than the speedrun record.
