wow, i don't even know which of those features i'm looking forward to the most, wish i could say i was qualified to test it for you but sadly i'm just a sneek user and don't know the first thing about wii coding.

edit: actually this
- ability of booting straight from USB without using SD card at all.
seems really important to me i didn't even think that was possible i am looking forward to absolutely everything but that feature in particular is there an eta?

It would actually be impossible to not use the SD card at all.

No it's not impossible

not impossible, but he'd have to write a usb stack and drivers for bootmii to use when loading the file that's supposed to be on sd

so, not impossible, but it's not happening. no patches like this have been submitted for bootmii

But for all practical purposes it's impossible. Especially since Bootmii is closed source and the fact that the user would have to install a new version of the Bootmii stub for it to work.

If you still need any testers, I'd be glad to help. I've got an USB Gecko, so debugging is not a problem

Hmm, about Ocarina and Action Replay on gamecube games:
- Will it run Ocarina and/or Action Replay on backup multi game discs? If yes, how are you planning to do that?
- Does it use the ancient or the newer Ocarina code handler?

I've wrote my own "bootmii" which is installed as IOS and is able to launch armboot.bin directly from USB.

WiiPower,
it doesn't suport multigame disks because it prepatches dol before run it.
So, only normal single-game disks are supported.
I'm using wode which allows to run gamecube disks from USB, so for wode users multigame disks are not actual.
I'm not familiar with ocarina versions. Can you give me link to read more about difference?

Are you saying that you prepatch the .dols and .elfs to use the dvd-video read instead of the regular one? What do you do with the read disc id? I guess patching the 2 audio stream dvd commands is possible too as they only need to return certain stuff instead of acutually doing anything.

But back to the prepatching, does it support this:
CODEdvd_read1 buf: 0x805c4ee0 off: 0x015a59e0 size: 0x00001000 file: ed_menu.sam
dvd_patchread reloader_status=0

dvd_read1 buf: 0x805c5ee0 off: 0x015a69e0 size: 0x00001000 file: ed_menu.sam(@0x00001000)
dvd_patchread reloader_status=0

dvd_read1 buf: 0x805c4ee0 off: 0x015a79e0 size: 0x00001000 file: ed_menu.sam(@0x00002000)
dvd_patchread reloader_status=0

dvd_read1 buf: 0x805c5ee0 off: 0x015a89e0 size: 0x00001000 file: ed_menu.sam(@0x00003000)
dvd_patchread reloader_status=0
?

That's what Eternal Darkness is doing.

About Ocarina, the last time i tried the new code handler didn't work for gamecube games, but there's a chance i did something wrong. NeoGamma and Gecko OS mod use the Ocarina code handler from Gecko OS 1.06 gamecube edition.

I've wrote plugin for WiiGator's cMIOS. I don't patch any DVD commands.
I'm using WODE which should be represented itself as original DVD, not backup.

Just though I'd bump this to keep it fresh in peoples minds. I would have thought this would have been a really, really hot topic.

It sounds absolutely awesome.

I wish to help beta testing to. I know how sneek works and it's configuration needs (already done from sd-di), I can test wii games, vc and wiiware aswell. I use my Wii all the time for everuthing, so erroning bugs out is not a problem.

For writing a guide I can also be of help.

I'd be willing to help you test it. My qualifications include Wii and other modding system experience, homebrew and all. I use dev builds of normal sneek, and I can also write documentation.

^That's something I wrote for gamefaqs a while back. I give you the cached link because the real link doesn't seem to work anymore. Unfortunately I lost the original document so I can't provide you that, but hopefully that work will be enough to vouch for my guide skills.

Edit:

I forgot my buddy had this site with it. But that should be the latest. Either way, I believe it is of sufficient quality to prove I can write decent guides.

Whatever happened to this... Is it still alive? I'd loooove to have this as I don't really like SNEEK the way it is right now.

I have also installed uniiloader en Emunand and like it also more then sneek.
To bad Sorg pulled the plug out of this project, because he didn't wan't to release source yet!
After some "mud-fighting" about GPL with other developers he borrowed the sources from, he stopped the project.
To bad because it has great potential!!!

Well crap... I wish I had been there to grab it before it got pulled out. Stupid moralfags and their licenses. Riivolution didn't get any shit for not releasing source and yet this does? bleh.

Well the Riivolution guys developed the app themself (so they can do whatever they want with it no matter if you don´t like it) this is just taking other peoples source (change it a bit) and don´t release the source (as it should be) and it´s not only a licensing issue it´s about respect to the original devlopers too. Actually i don´t see any reason why he didn´t just released the source.
Was it such a big problem !? I don´t think so.
