I recently just soddered in a new slot 1 card reader since the tabs in the original are bent. Once it was in I waited for it to cool down and poped a cart in, held the battery in, and booted it up, ran through set up and went into the game(phantom hourglass) and it worked just fine. I put everything back together and it won't read the save data. Simply, when assembled completely it doesn't read save data yet when not asembled(back shell off and motherboard visible) it reads the data. So bizarre.

edit, it's a ds light

Sounds like when the back cover is on - it's pushing the slot down which is causing a contact issue somewhere,

Try it with the back on but no screws in and see if it works, (if it does - put one screw back in - check again, then another screw and if one of the screws stops it from working - you'll have an idea of what side of the cartridge slot has the issue)

I'll have to look into that later on today, thanks
