Hacking Looking for advice

Hi! New here!

So I have a PS3 FAT, Model Cechk-01. When I check the info it says 4.84 for Firmware. I saw the guide about 'PS3 4.82 CFW Installation for Dummies'. I wasn't sure if that was the best place to start since the original article was posted Dec 5, 2017.

I at least did the update checker in the article, which says 'Update data of version 2.16 or later can be installed on this system."

So my question is where do I start in the modding process? I found another article about a week ago that mentioned it's possible to 'hack' your console so it can play PSP and PS2 games which is mainly what I'm looking to do, though PS3 ISOs is always nice and anything else that I can play. I got a hacked Wii that can play pretty much anything but downloaded Gamecube games.

Thanks for any help, I just don't want to end up going by possibly an outdated article and end up bricking my PS3.

I think because this is specifically a PS3 sub-forum, so bringing up wii/gc emulation here I would say is rare.That's all
