On the Loadiine compatibility list (can't post link because I'm new) under the "WiiU Virtual Console Games" section for NDS and N64 it mentions that some xml files are needed to run these games. These are the app.xml and cos.xml files in the code folder. I'm a little confused because I downloaded a N64 game using JNUSTool to FST format (unencrypted), copied it over to the sd:/wiiu/games folder and was able to run it just fine in Loadiine without using those xml files (or injecting anything).

Another question I had was about vc injection. Is that only needed if you want to launch a VC game from the WiiU Menu?

After reading a couple more posts I think I may have answered my own question. It seems like the main reason for injection is to play NDS/N64 roms that are not available on the eShop. That makes sense why the game I downloaded worked fine. Injection now makes more sense since you are injecting a non-eShop game into an official eShop game.
