I don't remember the black boot up screen that I keep seeing, was that when you first start up a new DSi or just a camera trick?

Wow what I've said quite a lot. All this is is a DSi with bigger screens, nothing new at all. Its only been about 8 months since the DSi and that's not long enough to have developed full new hardware.
