Hey everyone,

So Avast was telling me that I had a virus in the temporary files, I didn't really worry but my computers getting a little slower now, the virus is coolWWWsearch.Olehelp and it's running under a svchost.exe file (that's what sby-bot said)

Now after I ran the scan, I re-run the scan, to see that the registry file is still there. So I decide to go Into my registry manually and delete the file, but low and behold, it wasn't there ?

Any tips or am I making a crucial mistake here ?

Get free antivirus program called avg, install, and use. See if that helps. If not I and you want to try deleting registry files all I can say is be careful and make a backup on a usb flash drive first. (Cause you can delete it w/o anything getting pack on the pc if need be)

Messing with the registry? Ooh, that's risky stuff, there.

Well, if you find it isn't removed, the good ol' Spybot forums have a solution! They've helped me a number of times.

There ya go!

Best of luck!

What will wiping all the registrys do ?

*backing up*

DON'T MESS WITH THE REGISTRY YET!!!

Download:
1. Combofix from bleepingcomputer.com.
2. MalwareBytes from malwarebytes.org
3. SuperAntiSpyware from superantispyware.com
4. Hijackthis from CNET
5. ATFCleaner or CCleaner

Run Combofix and Mawarebytes in Safe mode. If they prompt for an update, let it.

After those are ran, boot into "normal" mode and run SuperAntiSpyware, HijackThis, and CCleaner or ATFCleaner. Come back if you have questions.

I clean viruses all day where I work. Listen to what I say.

since you have avast,I recommend scheduling a boot-time scan.

if that doesn't take care of it then scan with another antivirus or format as a last resort

There is a really good stick on virus removal in this forum.

If I suspect a virus, the first thing I do is update my virus software, and then disconnect the internet connection. Then I go into safe mode and throw all my virus/spyware at it. Even without a virus suspected, I'll scan in safe mode very so often anyway.

when you get a virus you can use Killbox, its a free application that will end any specific program running even if you can't kill it with task manager
