I hope there will be exploits and such released to make use of this. Until then it's useless to anyone without access to one.

Unfortunately, while there are patches to make Linux work well on the PS4 Pro as an example, there are no exploits publicly available where you could actually make use of it.

For the people who continuously say "we won't see homebrew for two years", the evidence keeps pointing to it being more likely we will see homebrew sooner rather than later, and I stick to my estimate of 12 months or less
Homebrew is possible as fast as people can make it. It's CFW/backups which can be updated past fw 3.0 that I'll be skeptical about until I see it.

Even if it happens I still think its going to be a choice between homebrew or been able to play new games.

Look at the PS4 scene, look at the Vita scene. I'd love to be proved wrong, however I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed once new games are released they can't play.

Plus, the Switch has eFuses, so no downgrading... It's gonna be interesting to see what comes of Switch homebrew, and if the system will ever get a hack as amazing as A9LH/B9S that Nintendo can't patch out.

It may be possible to downgrade some parts of the system and not some other parts that are checked by the console, we still don't know anything really...
