Check out Torchlight it's kinda like Diablo, and was made to be able to run on Netbooks so you should have no problem. And it autosaves every time you exit the game.
You can also try Bookworm/Adventure/Adventure 2 and a good GBA emulator like Visualboy Advance M.

See also: Fate and Fate 2.
I 2nd TorchLight.

It is fun to play, and it runs amazing on my desktop. They System Requirements aren't high AFAIK... And is a good game to pass time with.

I recommend:
- WarCraft III [+ DoTA]
- Command and Conquer Series
- RollerCoaster Tycoon 1 and 2 [3rd one was nyeh. I liked the old tycoon]
- The Sims

The requirements are very low, this guy's actually quite overqualified.

Which games are we talking about o_O?

I listed a few... xD.
I am not sure if it runs, but I also recommend "The Sims 2".

I'm playing "The Last Remnant" with NO LAGG on a Dell Studio 1555 with

Intel Core2 Duo 2.10GHz
4GB RAM
Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family

Windows 7

Now the truth:

My in game settings:

Resolution: 640x480
Overall quality: the lowest
Player view: narrow (in field)

I don't care for graphics in a game. Gameplay and Story is way more important.

Edit: Also playing:

-Oblivion (it plays OK)
-Assasin's Creed (avoid that one it laggs too much and affects the voice sync)
-Far Cry: (lowest resolution and quality runs good)
-Dragon Age Origins (Low quality but still lagging some times)
-Prototype (runs good on low quality and resolution)
-Borderlands (this one is tricky but runs at low res good quality)
-Guild Wars: Highest resolution and quality runs PERFECTLY

You should try the ijji games (A.V.A., Soldier Front, Gunz, and many rpgs) they run on any descent computer but they are all online games.

Edit 2: One thing also, right click your game icon (doesn't matter if it's a shorcut or not) and go on the compatibility tab, check: disable desktop visual theme, desktop composition, run as administrator.

Should run better if you have less programs running in background. I would disable my wireless, turn off my anti-virus and close all my other programs when playing newer games. But will always encounter slow downs.

The Sims 2 runs fine on my computer and its more crappy then his laptop

QUOTE(triassic911 @ Feb 4 2010, 03:28 AM) Get N+. I have a garbage laptop and it runs perfectly. Really fun.

http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/n_downloads.html

Its called "N", N+ is the DS remake of the game

(Had to say it)

Edit: Guess I'll suggest some indie games;

An obvious choice for an indie game is CaveStory, http://www.miraigamer.net/cavestory/index.php
M.U.G.E.N which is a fighting game (I haven't played it) http://mugen.en.softonic.com/
RunMan, I enjoyed this game, very fun http://whatareyouwait.info/

Also some other games here: http://mattmakesgames.com/

If you like MMOs:

Guild Wars - it's really good when it comes to performance

and what I like to play a lot now

League of Legends, it will run a bit slow I guess since the proessor isn't that fast and it uses Adobe Air for the lobby which runs all the time (and adobe air is crap) - it's a Dota style game

I hope you are not serious, that game is full of 12 year olds.
Co-op missions are no fun when they cry when beaten.

The game was much better ages ago.

Edit: Also forgot one of my favourites, Merry Gear Solid http://www.superfundungeonrun.com/total-klik//merrygear.html

Fable 2 might not be so great(you'll have to try it and find out), but the others will be fine.

I don't think Fable 2 is released on PC actually, I think the only Fable game is TLC on PC (great game by the way, loved it, and you should be able to run it)

well I like the playstyle and the whole experience with all those cartoon like characters
most people I've experienced so far are okay, although I never really did hardcore chat with them and since I don't play it for doing hardcore chat I'm didn't have problems with the community so far
