That sucks haha, appreciate the response anyhow

Actually, I just remembered that CTR_Redshift has a fake brightness adjuster, and is a bit more permanent. You can set the configs individually for each screen, so it might be worth a look at.

Edit: there is also a Luma build not by me which should save the configs and apply them at boot time.

Link me the luma one? im unsure
Also the CIA in the OP is odd af, Up/Down essentially changes the setting and left/right goes up and down the menu, kappa
also that CIA maxes me to 0.1-1.0 not higher

This might be what Sono was referring to (though it definitely is just a slight mod to his own redshift implementation). It doesn't actually apply the screen config at boot time but the option is at the top of the Rosalina menu so it can be selected easily with eyes closed.

It might be possible to build another Luma boot.firm that applies the screen config on boot (as early as is feasible in the code), but I'm not very experienced and haven't looked into it. You could then load a Luma "NightMode" with a keycombo through FastBoot, which would be pretty cool ^^. And perhaps with some work it could also load a chosen dark colour home menu theme...

Yeah, I didn't do it for a reason: because I don't know a reliable way to detect when the graphics is initialized, so can't apply the LUT until the graphics is initialized. This is also why opening Rosalina too early will softlock the 3DS.

Thought I should chime in here for anyone who wants higher brightness - I've found a way to do it with this app, at least on new 3DS. For some reason, it resets the brightness to the home menu brightness whenever it is detected to be outside the default limits any time a brightness change is detected with the front camera. However, covering the front camera with something, like, for example, a piece of electrical tape, makes it never detect a lighting change, which in turn lets you get a higher brightness.

Sounds good but a bit scary who has actually used this... Will it break my screen?... How much better is it with games...?....

The brightness adjuster is for those who aren't satisfied with the max brightness, and want brightness higher than stock. I wouldn't recommend changing the brightness above twice the maximum you can set normally, but it shouldn't break in a long time even at the max possible brightness level.

As for the redshift, that's completely safe, it's a built-in hardware functionality.
If you only want redshift then use CTR_Redshift, that also works on old3DS, works in DS mode with TWPatcher, and only gets reset when rebooting the 3DS. It also doesn't require power saving mode, and most importantly, IT DOESN'T FLICKER.
