Did you do any damage to the actual connector on the board? Also are you 110% sure both ribbon cables are fully seeded?
If the screen lights up but nothing shows you have probably bent some pins in the ribbon cable connector, very easy to do.
Check how far the ribbon cable goes in, if you can see some gold of the connectors that's probably what's happened.
