Gaming Latest homebrew PSP update

Yes you can use a Pandora to revert most cock-ups but what if you reverted your battery, had a cock up and then couldn't recreate a Pandora? That's the only reason i suggested leaving it as a Pandora.

You're making this far more complicated than it need be.

OSPBT
Rain's UltraLite MMS Maker for 5.00 M33-4 v1.2 - firmware eboots also needed
Then to GEN A then GEN B then GEN B2

OR
Hellcat's Recovery Flasher to 5.00M33-4 firmware eboots also needed - then to GEN A then GEN B then GEN B2

All this just for a stupid demo !?
If you are anyway going to make a Pandora then just update to the Official 6.00 and reinstall the CFW again (with the pandora) after you played the demo

When do I need to inject this TM IPL?

EDIT: Also, I've just used that MMS tool you gave me (thanks for it!), will it install M33 or not?

Just use HCRF....

Rain's UltraLite MMS Maker for 5.00 M33-4 flashes 5.00M33-4.....who'd a thunk it! Then you just need to update to GEN manually.

The TM IPL is injected using Rain's IPL tools. You will format your stick and inject the TM IPL at the same time so it's a preparatory step for a new MS.

So- all I need to do now is create a Pandora, right, then it's all go? I mean, it will be Pandora with the TM IPL stuff? I know I'm being n00bish, but with PSP hacking, I really don't know a thing. I'm better with Wii and DS.

Ok.....the MMS you've made with Rain's GUI requires a Pandora to work. If i was doing this these are the steps that i'd follow, assuming that i didn't want to use Recovery Flasher.

Activate ChickHEN
Use OSPBT to convert battery to Pandora.
Use Rain's GUI to make MMS.
Use MMS and Pandora to install CFW.
Use Rain's IPL tools to format MMS and inject TM IPL

OK, and with TM IPL, my Pandora will be half normal, with no exploding...Okays. I'm kinda half worried in case I make a cock-up of it. So far, I have my MMS, normal battery, my GEN installers on my MMS and OSPBT. All this I'm running inside 5.03 GEN-A (Full), which I suppose makes no difference to chickHEN.

No, but you only need the HEN environment active to do any of this.

OK, now my PSP won't boot. I made my battery a Pandora, turned it off, pressed the R trigger and...nothing. The green light comes on then goes straight off.

Now what.

EDIT: 5.00 M33-4 seems to have installed somehow now; I pressed L and R whilst booting and it booted to M33 Recovery Menu, I ran the program at EBOOT.PSP and now it seems to be working...

EDIT 2: Now DC8 is up...I pressed L on its own at start. ^^

OK, Time Machine IPL has been injected. Is that right?

EDIT: Well, my PSP refuses to start with the battery inserted. I can only start it when it is plugged in. Gawd, I'm wishing I hadn't done this now. I can only start it with the charger inserted. I've changed the battery back to a standard, but the same. What's going on...? Is my battery all messed up or something, or is it my PSP?

EDIT2: It will come back from sleep mode with only the battery, but the main reason I did this was so I didn't have to put it so sleep.

EDIT3: Finally, got it working. Good ol' GEN Recovery menu. But no Pandora for me.

That sounded suspiciously like you didn't restore the battery. And not to nitpick but as someone who's M33 faithful it's the M33 recovery menu which GEN appropriated.

Glad you finally got it sorted. I'd also like to raise your awareness that you like me have one of the uber PSP 2000's which are capable of Pandora Battery Creation (or EEPROM write). Effectively this is the best PSP you can possibly own.

Well this little chat inspired me to finally update and try out gen. I've been on m33 forever and it's never failed me, but I want to try this peace walker demo out too. hopefully I don't screw something up. I'm hoping I can update to gen-a, then gen-b/2, try out the demo, then use hellcat's recovery flasher to go back to 5.00m33. I don't have a pandora, but I think this will work, right?

A mod from the now defunct Dark-Alex forums reported that GEN B corrupts with Recovery Flasher due to the patchy coding. Even if it supposedly reflashes i wouldn't advise updating unless you have a Pandora available.

you said that gen-b corrupts with recovery flasher. does this mean that flashing gen-b through hellcat's is buggy? I wanted to reflash 5.00 through the recovery flasher if gen-b didn't work or something. a downgrade back to 5.00.

Recovery Flasher flashes M33 firmwares, hence the wut....the issue is getting off GEN without causing issues.

so, RUNNING recovery flasher on GEN is buggy. I guess I get what you're saying. I haven't had any problems yet with GEN, let's hope if I have to flash back for some reason I won't have problems.
