Hello peeps, I have a PSP-2003 with 5.03 GEN-A installed. I was wandering if there's a newer one ready (or due) for 6.00 or something. I would like M33 or something that is a little more complete than the GEN, but I don't believe Pandora batteries work with my version. If anyone would let me borrow theirs, then that would be helpful, just to see.

I would like to play GTPSP on release along with Peace Walker, but I don't think it'll let me because I'm on an old firmware.

Thanks guiz.

Heh, didn't think I'd see you around these parts TBH reggie. ^^

It might be 5.50 GEN I'm running, but I can't remember.

5.50 GEN B-2 is the latest in that firmware series.

I've done a bit of research, and it seems highly likely that I don't have the TA-088v3 motherboard. My date code is 7C and my serial begins with HB. Here is the thread that I am referring to.

So, I don't know whether to go ahead and install it. If for some reason it bricks my PSP, will I just be able to use a Pandora battery and get it working again?

Are you using Chickhen to load your CFW or is it flashed to the PSP and withstands a hard reset?

Use Chickhen to load PSPIdent and post the result.

Yes you can flash a full firmware, and even create a Pandora battery with that Mobo....if you're worried about a brick turn your battery into a Pandora using whichever battery tool you so desire (cory's OSPBT is pretty good) and flash with safety (MMS made with Rain's Ultra Lite app would be good), then either restore the battery or leave it as a Pandora and use the TM IPL. If you're gungho just use the recovery flasher to blast some firmware in without any safety measures.

Oh, that'd be great. How would I install 5.50 GEN-B2 on my PSP then with a Pandora (if I create it)? I won't keep it as a Pandora because of the loss of heat control...But being able to shut off my PSP would be great.

Just install the CFW M33 with pandora then update to Gen. Anyway i wouldn´t use GEN Firmwares they are crap (bricked my PSP 2 times and everything i-net related wasn´t working)

But it doesn't look like M33 is being updated, whereas the GEN ones are. I mean, you can play the Peace Walker demo on GEN using a workaround, whereas on M33 it isn't possible.

Loss of heat control? If you inject a TM IPL onto your MS then the battery works as normal. Just flash an M33 firmware first then update to GEN should you so wish.

(M33 till i die!)

Would it not be easier to just return it to its normal state, then change it back to a Pandora when I need to...?

Using this TM IPL, will it still be a Pandora battery, but also a normal one? So if I press the R trigger upon boot, will it boot the DC8 as long as I have my MMS inserted?

I'm using this guide as a reference.

It all depends if you still have access to your recovery menu following a brick. If you were sticking with M33 then it'd be less of a concern but the jury is still out on GEN in my book.

A Pandora is a Pandora. The boot controls are user defined in the DC set up. Assuming you just use your stick as a regular MS then you'd format it using Rain's IPL tools and inject the TM IPL and afterwards you never know the difference. Then should you need the service of a Pandora you just need to insert an MMS. That's what i do as i can't be bothered to take up space on my gaming MS's with DC stuff and firmware eboots!

Is there any chance of M33 updating their firmware anytime soon? Surely it can't make much difference if I install 5.50GEN-B2 over M33. If I get bricked, surely I can just use my newly created Pandora and set it right again. I just want to be able to play this Peace Walker demo, which at the moment, isn't possible on the M33.

I've got majorly confused with your first sentence too...
