Hacking Latest 2Ds Firmware

Hi all my first post here, hope it’s in the right place, I have several R4 3Ds cards that will not work. My wife bought a new 2Ds a few days ago and I set it up for her, i checked the firmware which is 11.9.0.42 apparently only a week old or so, I updated my R4 card with the latest firmware but on trying to load it on to my 2Ds I get a black screen error, telling me an error has occurred and to hold the off button, nothing I have tried has been able to resolve this, can anyone tell me is it the updated firmware that is preventing the R4 from working or are there other issues ?

Which R4 flashcart is it? Where did you download the update for the R4 cartridge?

Certain flashcarts don't work with newer 3DS flashcarts. If you install B9S and custom firmware, which is highly recommended for various other homebrew applications, game installation, etc., you can bypass those restrictions. Follow the guide linked above to install B9S and CFW, and then try the flashcart.
