ok ok ok so my laptop has been broken for a long time... it needed a new dc jack so i bought one but i need to solder connections to the bottom of the motherboard (dont no how to remove the motherboard from laptop

(If you need a work space lay down a cardboard box or something, carpet = almost guaranteed fried mobo.)
 
Do you have soldering experience? Aanyway, the type of laptop would be usefull too, but you should be able to figure it out. Probably you will need to remove CPU/GPU heatsinks and etc.. Could be some things are clicked in there rather then held in there with a screw so be mindfull of that. Also it's a multilayered PCB, don't put too much stress on there as that will kill it.

I can't believe some people will still try to do that... Yeah, carpet + any open electronic = dead electronic.
 
i have soldered my dads amp (im 12) perfectly
(my dad didnt know how)
it was my first try i saw people doin it on youtube modding wiis
so my dad got a soldering iron and some thin thin solder

carpet+rubbing = static
static + exposed electronics = dead electronics

It also goes for person + carpet = staticly charged person
staticly charged person + exposed electronics = dead electronics

Make sure you are grounded and whatever you are working with is placed on an anti-static surface.
