there should be no problem putting an english firmware on the R4
never tried putting a chinese though

Chinese R4s only Accept Chinese Firmware, and English with English Version firmware, he's asking for someone to hack the chinese version to have english text ( I THINK )

Normally, no, you cant use different language firmware on the r4.
But after r4decrypt came out, someone (cant remember who) made a patcher so you could use english firmware on a chinese r4.
Alternatively, if its on of the first few batches, there s a place where you can place a drop of solder on the pcb the make a chinese r4 compatible with english firmware.

Shouldn't be too hard. Why not play with R4Decrypt with Chinese Firmware and try to change the chinese symbols to english text.

You can use a patch program to allow the English R4 software on your chinese R4. http://www.savefile.com/files/740901
Its written by Iq_132. Just download the english firmware and use the patch. It should work on the Chinese version then.

If it's not working, here is the R4 English kernel 1.09 modified with the patch by Iq_132
It's working on my chinese R4 really well.

Is there any possibilty of translating the ENglish firmware to another language? With, relativly, the same character set.
