Gaming Kinect Issues

So I got a brand new Kinect and I am trying to set it up on a offline flashed console with dash 2.0.12625.0
This is the last fall's Kinect Dash but when I try to get the kinect to work it says it needs to install an update to work. Is this safe to let it install the update? It's not the latest dashboard that it is trying to install is it?

It would depend on the game as i'm not sure what dash is on the latest kinect games, but for the original kinect games like Kinect Sports and Dance Central they have a dash of around 2.0.12416.0 so it will just be installing kinect stuff only.

Yea I know that but its not the game that is asking for the update. Its the kinect itself that is saying it needs an update to work. Maybe this is just something that comes on every kinect. Can someone who has a Kinect comment on what they had to do to get it to work please.
