Hardware Just ordered DriveKey. New to backups. School me please!

So im new to this whole backups scene and i really have no idea about anything.

I ordered the Drivekey today for my Australian Pal Wii and i just wanted to know what i need to do to prepare it or anything.

Also, what type of backups can i play with the DriveKey? Can i play NTSC and PAL backup games?

i am slightly confused because my friend used to have to patch his games with frame rate fixes and also auto update fixes or something.

Do i still need to do that, or should i be fine with this newer modchip?

can anyone help?

i actually have 2 wiis, one is NTSC but is left overseas.Here in Australia i use a pal one, and i want to play backups of my NTSC games on my PAL machine with the DriveKey.

is there anything i need to do to the games or anything?

Switch on the update blocker in config. That's pretty much it, then for the ntsc games that won't boot in disc channel, use gecko os or similar for them.

yer for some games, my wii wont load them at all. in disc channel it may show the game image, but when i click start, it becomes a black screen and the wii just hangs there.

so if they dont work, i should use another OS? how does that work?
