I downloaded 3 games with it( mario kart and mario 3d world and zelda ww)

I was thinking about hacking it, like i did with my wii.

So my questions are:

1. Will i still be able to play the purchased games online?

2. What are the chances of getting banned for only playing single player games pirated and playing.

3. Can I even hack with 5.2.2?

4. If i do get banned, will i still be able to play the pirated games? and is it a console ban? or account ban?

1. Yes
2. No ban chance
3. dont know
4. i dont want to say something wrong so I wont say anything to it

3. Yes, just takes a bit longer because the exploit has a lowerchance of success than on 5.5.1. Definityly should go for Haxchi though.
4. Yes. Simply no more online access.

''Yes. Simply no more online access.'' so i cant play purchased games online?

And all i need is Haxchi to play backups?

you get banned only if you cheat online and mess with other user's fun.
as long as you don't cheat, there's no reason to be banned.

if banned, of course purchased games won't play online either, all online is banned. but why deal with possible ban? just play nice, don't cheat online. enjoy your games.

haxchi is not even needed.
haxchi for WiiU games act as a "signature patch", which is needed only to play out of region, or eShop games.
disc based games of your region does not require haxchi or cbhc, as they will use the correct signature.

but having haxchi is always nice, even more if you are on 5.5.2, as it's very stable method to launch homebrew too.
it's a multi tool launcher : launch homebrew, patch signature, launch any other homebrew you want by assigning a button when launched.

I totally agree, I wont mess around.

I'll only use it for single player games like zelda :D

You're fine to play multiplayer games too. Just don't mod the games to give you an advantage over non hacked users and you won't get banned.

Btw, i have a 32gb wii u, do i really need a 64gb sd card?
I currently only have a 2gb and 4gb sd and dont really wanna spend 30 euro's on another sd card :\

You don't need it, only to make a NAND backup, for safety reason, that you should, but not a necessary step. You'd need it if you want to install bigger games using WUP installer, like Xenoblade Chronicles or so.

Games like Zelda, if you want to install it through WUP installer also take like 7GB or so.

Agreed, just for the NAND backup is a 64GB SD card needed. Xenoblade should easily fit on a 32GB. Every game should.

edit: If OP has to buy a new SD card (looks like it, if his biggest card is 4GB), he might as well buy a 64GB and do the NAND backup.

Is there a work-around for the sd part? Like using an usb to store the games on? Or downloading the games directly to the wii u and then to the usb?

I can answer all three in one point

1) dont want to get banned, then buy your games and play on an un modified console.

mods/exploits/piracy is against any consoles T&Cs, it is not supported, therefor you run the risk of being banned.

if you dont want to buy your games, and dont want to get banned, then its pretty fecking simple - KEEP OFFLINE.

You can use Loadiine, I think it can run games from an USB. They are different methods:

  • Loadiine kinda emulates the console, and boots from the homebrew channel. It reads games and saves game progress on files on the SD card. You cannot go online and may have other game limitations;
  • WUP installer installs the game on your console, either in the internal memory or in a USB disc or pen drive formatted by your Wii U. You can play online and it uses the console's save system and it runs like a gem downloaded from the eShop. It requires a bigger SD for install, as you have to put the game there to install. You can delete it after from the SD.

So far no band on Wii U for playing copies, and at this point on the console's life, I doubt they even bother.

I saw this method on the forum:
- Download your game using Wii U USB Helper.

- After being downloaded, right click on the game and select "Copy to SD"

- On your Wii U, launch Wii U Transfer Tool

- On your PC, click on "Copy to Wii U" and at the prompt, select Yes.

- When installed, verify if it's on USB. If it's on the NAND, replace it on the USB.

Like the game transfers from pc to wii u directly?

I have a 32gb wii u btw

No

No, you're confused. The Wii U transfer tool is a feature of Wii U USB Helper. It only copies the data from your pc to your SD card in preparation for install. Then you place your SD back in your Wii U and use WUP Installer to install the he from SD to USB or internal memory.

Okay so i just tried to transfer the 3 purchased games to my 1tb seagate and when i plug it in it just starts beeping and the wii u is not even recognizing it.

So I remember i still have a 64gb flashdrive for the moment. I heard people are having trouble with usb sticks? long term wise it stopts working after a while?

And i just ordert a 32gb sd, could i also use that as storage for the wii u? or just purely for transferring games?

Just do it. Honestly. It's SO WORTH IT.

I've been out of the wii u mod game for awhile and it recently go updated to 5.5.2... With all the guides (possibly outdated) out there, what's the best current one you recommend?
